WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THE PARACAS NATIONAL RESERVE?

Near the entrance, inside the Reserve is the Center of Interpretation of the Paracas National Reserve and the Museo de sitio Julio C. Tello named for the archaeologist who made the greatest discoveries of the ancient Paracas culture.

In the museum you can see the fine funerary objects buried with the mummified remains of the elite of the Paracas.

BEACHES

Between Playa Lagunillas and Punta Santa Maria, is Red beach is one of the most beautiful in the National Reserve due to the reddish color of its coastthe most unusual along the peruvian coast.

The red color of the sand is caused by the massif of nearby Punta Santa Maria, formed by a kind of igneous rock known as grain diorite pink, which contains magma solidified in the inside. When the waves break against the cliffs of Punta Santa Maria, carrying fragments of the red rocks which are then left in the bank, in a nice contrast with the colors yellow and ochre cliffs.
