Itinerary

DIA 1: CUSCO – KLM. 82 -WAYLLABAMBA (Camino inca 4 dias a Machu Picchu)

Very early at 5:30 am. the staff will pick you up from your hotel, we headed by bus to Piskacuchu, a community located at the kilometer 82 of the Cusco – Machu Picchu, the starting point of the Inca Trail. We begin our hike by crossing the bridge over the Urubamba river and walk along its left bank as it flows to the northwest along the Sacred Valley.

Following the trail along a flat terrain, we arrive in Miskay 2800 meters, to then ascend and finally see, from the top of a viewpoint, the impressive Inca city of Llactapata 2650 meters. We continue the walk, gradually climbing for five hours until we reach the community of Wayllabamba where we camp for the night.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYO

After breakfast, we begin the most difficult part of the trek, climbing towards the open Warmiwañusca (where the Woman Dies) 4200 meters, we can see domestic llamas and alpacas grazing on ichu, one of the few plants that grow at high altitude.

We also cross an area called the forest of fog, passing by Llulluchapampa in the step, we have a spectacular view of the Andes before beginning the descent to the campsite in the Pacaymayo.

DAY 3: CHAQUICOCHA – PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA

This day is the longest but also the most impressive and the most interesting. From Pacaymayo we climb to the second pass, the abra Runkurakay.

Half way, we stop to visit the archaeological complex with the same name consists of a small frame oval, which is believed to have served the purpose of a watchtower. After going over the pass, we descend towards Yanacocha (Black lagoon) and enter the cloud forest to finally arrive at Sayacmarca.

This is a beautiful complex made up of a semicircular construction, enclosures at different levels, narrow streets, liturgical fountains, patios channels. After our hike takes us to Wiñay Wayna, an impressive Inca complex, and an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector, near which is found our camp. This campground is home to a pavilion hiker, a bar and bathrooms with hot water shower. After visiting the impressive archaeological site, we will enjoy our farewell dinner at our camp.

DAY 4: WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUZCO

This is the last and the most important day, we started our path very early to Inti Punku or Sun Gate, where we have a spectacular view and panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Then we walked up to the Sanctuary for a guided visit of Machu Picchu. Visit the numerous sacred temples, and more.

To go up to the mountain of the Huayna Picchu we can choose one of the two groups at 07:00 am or 10:00 am. Do the hike to the mountain of Huayna Picchu, which will take us about an hour, but really worth it, the view is stunning and the experience will be unforgettable. Enjoy and recharge energy.After that we walked towards the village of Machu Picchu where we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then bus to Cusco.

Included in the Tour?

  • Professional guides:All our guides were studied English and tourism at the National University of Cusco. They all grew up in this region and have a true passion for teaching others about their heritage. They are fun but professional and will ensure that you are safe and happy.
  • Permissions: as soon as we receive your details and a deposit, we will buy their permits (pending availability, see our link Availability of the Inca trail). These permissions are for a specific date and in your name. Can not be changed once confirmed. Only your passport number can be updated. The permit includes an entrance to Machu Picchu.
  • Instructions: The night before your hike, come to our office for your briefing. You will receive your canvas bag that will remain with your porters, while you walk. This bag should not exceed 7 kg / 14 pounds and needs to include your sleeping bag and air mattress.
  • Porters: We include a doorman and staff, which is responsible for carrying his duffel bag. There is an additional fee for this. You will not have access to your duffel bag up their camp at night.
  • Transport: All your transportation is included on this hike. You will be picked up directly from your hotel around 4 to.m. (unless you are staying in Ollantaytambo) and led to KM 82, to begin their hike. The train back from Aguas Calientes is included. This is the kind of Expedition, but you can upgrade to the Vistadome train for $ 75 per person. Once you arrive at the train station, you will be taken back to your hotel in Cusco. Your bus ticket from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu is also included.
  • Team: Use tents Eureka Timberline 4 that only have two people. You will also have a large dining tent to enjoy your meal.
  • Food: We honor all of the dietary restrictions. Be sure to remind your guide to the food restrictions at the beginning of your hike. The food is typically served family style.
    You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the hike, along with a happy hour tea and snacks. You will also be given a light snack each morning for guests to enjoy during the hike. The lunch on the last day is not included.
  • Water: From your first lunch to your last breakfast, Alpaca Expeditions will provide all the water you need. This water boil, filtered and cooled before it is distributed. You must provide your own water bottles or camel. We recommend to carry around 3L. We shall fill our waters at every meal.
  • First aid: Each guide has received training in first aid from a physician. We conduct sessions mandatory training every February, to which you must attend each guide. Your tour guide will always have a first aid kit medical problems basic and oxygen. What is taken out of the way as quickly, and of how it is possible, if it is necessary, and we will make sure that you go directly to the clinic to receive treatment.
  • Extras: Each hiker is given a small pillow to sleep, a mattress, foam for insulation, a cover of a day to protect your things while you are walking and a rain poncho.
  • Satellite phones: Our highest priority is always the safety of our customers and our team. While we are prepared and all our guides are trained for most of the problems that customers have on the mountain, be to a call from a doctor, hospital or friend to help everyone feel confident that they are safe. The radios, which have all of our guides, they are limited in how far they can go, so that Alpaca Expeditions has added satellite phones in every walk. Each guide will have a phone fully loaded which you can use in any part of the mountain to connect to any part of the world. And may also be used by our customers for non-emergency cases. While they are not cheap to use, they are available in case you need to verify the puppy left at home with the grandmother.
